900 MHz Non-Line-Of-Sight Details and Installation Costs

OnALot.com Offers NLOS (Non-Line-Of-Sight) Service!

The 900 MHz radio band offers high speed wireless Internet service to areas that cannot physically see our transmitting antenna. All our other systems are Line-Of-Sight, which means you must physically be able to see our antennas. For most customers, this is not a problem, but for those who live buried in trees, or on the other side of a hill or building, then the 900 MHz band is ideal for you!

Our installer will determine which type of system (900 MHz or our standard 2.4 GHz system) will work best for you and discuss this with you prior to the installation. Please note that this equipment costs us more, so it will be our option as to which type of system we will install. Our policy is to always get you online for the lowest possible cost!

Please note that 900 MHz does not mean a slower system, it's just a different frequency band that we use. It's like getting the news on Channel 4 or on Channel 19 - different frequencies, same news. All our systems run at the same download speeds regardless of the frequency band we use.

900 MHz Antennas & Prices

Here's a picture of a typical 900 MHz antenna:

The one we use is about 5' long and has the highest gain. We use the strongest antenna so that you will get a fast, reliable signal!

We can also special order some really big, very high gain antennas if you live in a very difficult location - these will cost a bit more.

Notes

If your desktop computer does not have an ethernet port (almost all newer models have one), we can install one for $25.

If your laptop is not wireless, and you would like it to be, we can install a wireless card for $50.00

We can also make your desktop computer into a wireless desktop computer for $50.00 - this allows you to move it freely around your home.

As with all our installations, if you need additional antenna supports, we charge for those at roughly our cost. Please see the previous Installation page for more information.
